Geotechnical lab is well established and equipped to conduct soil test for finding soil properties and soil classification. This lab is concerned with the engineering behavior of earth materials; uses principles of soil and rock mechanics to investigate sub surface conditions and materials; also is used to determine the relevant physical/mechanical and chemical properties of these materials; to evaluate stability of natural slopes and manmade soil deposits; to assess risks posed by site conditions; to design earth works, structure foundations; monitor site conditions, earth work and foundation construction. The lab is equipped with direct shear test apparatus, Triaxial test apparatus, CBR test apparatus, Liquid limit test apparatus, Hydrometer test apparatus, augers, soil sample extruder apparatus, vain shear test apparatus, UC test apparatus, permeability apparatus, cone penetrometer, compaction apparatus and shrinkage limit apparatus.

In recent times, Geology is commercially important for mineral,  hydrocarbon exploration, for evaluating water resources and is publicly important for the prediction and understanding of natural hazardous, the remediation of environmental problems, for providing insight into past climate change; place a role in geotechnical engineering and is a major academic discipline. Our Engineering Geology lab is having sufficient samples of rocks and minerals. We have procured raw field samples of rocks, minerals, polished samples, maps, hardness testing kits, brunton compass and teakwood models. All this have been neatly displayed and sufficient care has been taken to preserve them.

Surveying is the science and art of making all essential measurements to determine the relative position of points or physical and cultural details above, on, or beneath the surface of the earth, and to depict them in a usable form, or to establish the position of points or details. Ours surveying practice lab is well equipped (Theidolite, Dumpy level, Auto level, Chain, Prismatic and surveyor’s compass, Ceylon ghat tracer, Box sextant, Hand level, Substance bar, Steel band and plain table with accessories, leveling staff, Optical square, Pantograph, Planimeter and total station) to conduct extensive survey camp for two weeks in Sri Ghati Subramanya. This gives practical knowledge of all types projects.
